What Psalmcast collects, why, and what never leaves your computer.

Last updated 25 October 2026

The short version

  • Your songs, services, media and Bibles stay on your own computer.
  • The Scripture Listener hears the sermon on your computer. Audio is never recorded or sent anywhere.
  • We only hold what we need to run your account: your email, your church's name and country, the computers on your plan and your payments.
  • Card details go to Paystack, never to us. We don't sell your data or show you adverts.

Who we are

Psalmcast (“we”, “us”) makes the Psalmcast desktop app, this website (psalmcast.app) and the account service at account.psalmcast.app. This policy explains what information we handle and why. If you have a question, email [email protected].

What stays on your computer

Psalmcast is built to work offline. Everything you create or import, including songs, services, media, themes, Bible translations, hymnals, settings and backups, is stored on the computer where you use Psalmcast. We cannot see it.

  • Scripture Listener. Speech is recognised on your computer. Audio is processed in memory, is not recorded, and never leaves the computer.
  • Phone remote and follow-along. Phones connect to the computer over your own local network. That traffic does not pass through our servers.
  • Cloud backup (optional, off until you turn it on) writes to your own Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox or S3 storage, using the account you connect. We don't receive a copy.
  • Planning Center, YouTube and web pages are fetched directly from those services when you use them, under their own privacy policies.

Payments

Payments are processed by Paystack. You enter your card or bank details on Paystack's checkout, and Paystack handles them under its own privacy policy and PCI-DSS obligations. We receive a confirmation of the payment, not your card number.

Cookies

This website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. The account site (account.psalmcast.app) uses one essential cookie to keep you signed in. It is removed when you sign out or when the session ends.

Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent your information. We share it only with the providers we need to run Psalmcast, and only as much as they need:

  • Paystack, to take payments.
  • Our hosting and email providers, to run the account service and deliver sign-in codes.
  • GitHub, which hosts the installer files you download.
  • Authorities, if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. Payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Crash reports are deleted once they are no longer needed to fix the problem. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise the rest.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account. You can also object to how we use it. Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, the GDPR and similar laws you may also complain to your data protection authority. To use any of these rights, email [email protected] from the address on your account.

You can remove a computer from your plan, or sign out, at any time on your account page.

Security

Connections to our servers are encrypted (HTTPS). Sign-in codes and tokens are stored only as one-way hashes, and licences are signed so they can't be forged. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you promptly if a breach affects you.

Children

Psalmcast accounts are for churches and organisations, and are not meant for children under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll tell account holders by email before it takes effect.
